Getting reserved a date for One day or Normal service for obtaining Passport.
A new methodology is implemented with effect from 06.11.2024 for the convenience of Passport applicants to register for applying passports.
1. Accordingly a prior registration shall be made through the link http://www.immigration.gov.lk with effect from 06.11.2024 to apply for Sri Lankan Passports. Acceptance of applications of applicants who register since then, will be commenced from Wednesday, 04.12.2024.
2. Therefore, it is possible to submit passport applications in the sequence of dates obtained as per the existing methodology up to Tuesday, 03.12.2024.
3. New applicants/ those who already possess a passport/ those whose passports have been lost may register through the new methodology.
4. The methodology of prior-registration is valid for both One Day Service and Normal Service.
5. Valid National Identity Card number and valid mobile phone number of the applicant are required for registration and the applicant shall bring the National Identity Card number for submission of passport applications.
6. National Identity Card number of the mother or father shall be entered in registering the children under 16 years of age to obtain Passports.
7. Having fulfilled the above requirements, you may register for One Day Service and Normal Service by visiting the website www.immigration.gov.lk and clicking on the icon “Book an appointment for a passport” keeping the photo receipt obtained from a relevant approved photo studio with you.
8. If your registration is successful, you will be notified via SMS a date for submitting the application. It is mandatory to visit the place you selected (Head office and Regional offices of Matara, Kandy, Kurunegala and Vavuniya) before 12.00 noon on the date you have been reserved as per the relevant SMS accompanying the originals of the application and all related documents. If you are unable to attend on the date, you will lose your opportunity reserved and you shall re-reregister for another date.
9. You are kindly informed that you will not be able to obtain a Passport by visiting the Department without reserving a date and time.
