1. The Online appointment system is mandatory to submit One-Day Service or Normal Service Passport applications at the Regional Offices in Matara, Kandy, Kurunegala, Vavuniya and Jaffna.
2. Applicants requiring urgent passport services may visit the Department of Immigration and Emigration (DIE) Head Office without obtaining an online appointment if the available appointment dates and times do not meet their emergency requirements.
3. To register for an appointment, applicants must provide:
a. National Identity Card (NIC) number / Passport Number
b. A valid mobile phone number.
c. Applicants are also required to present the original National Identity Card and originals of the other relevant documents when submitting the passport application. (Please refer to https://www.immigration.gov.lk/ )
4. The Online Appointment System allows applicants to make a family batch appointment. A batch may include a maximum of five (5) family members, consisting of up to two (2) adults and three (3) children.
5. Family batch appointments are strictly limited to immediate family members(Applicant, Spouse and Children Only). Applications submitted as a batch for persons who are not immediate family members will not be accepted for token issuance by the Department.
6. When registering a child under 16 years of age, the National Identity Card number of either the mother or father must be provided.
7. To make an appointment, visit the Department of Immigration and Emigration website, select "Book an Appointment to Obtain a Passport at a Regional Office", and complete the online registration. Before starting the registration, ensure that you have the Photo Studio Receipt issued by an approved photo studio.
8. Once your registration is successfully completed, you will receive an SMS notification confirming your appointment date, time, and selected Regional Office. One-day Service applicants must report to their selected Regional Office (Matara, Kandy,Kurunegala, Vavuniya, or Jaffna) before 12:00 noon on the scheduled appointment date, along with the original application and all required original supporting documents. Failure to attend on the scheduled date will result in the cancellation of the appointment, and the applicant will be required to obtain a new appointment.
9. Passport applications will not be accepted at Regional Offices without a valid online appointment. Applicants are therefore advised to reserve a date and time before visiting the selected Regional Office.
